Roodeberg, the legendary wine with a story in every bottle, has grown in stature over more than seven decades with a collection of accomplished blends of varying complexity.

From the ever popular and cherished Classic Red and Rosé to more intense and textured Roodeberg Reserve and the ultra-premium commemorative Roodeberg 1949, there’s a Roodeberg blend to suit every occasion.

Roodeberg 1949

This commemorative red blend marks the year in which Roodeberg was launched. Multi-faceted and ultra-premium, the 2018 vintage embraces the revival of exciting French and Spanish varieties. It’s a consummate blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Carignan, Carménère, Petit Verdot and Grenache. Each variety brings something unique to the blend resulting in a wine of exceptional concentration and finesse. Cabernet Sauvignon and Tempranillo lend structure and intensity, while the Carignan and Carménère contribute spicy intrigue and depth of flavour. Generous, concentrated aromas of dark cherry, blackcurrant and dried herbs set the tone for a gorgeous mouthful of cinnamon, sweet spice and ripe, juicy dark fruit. Firm tannins lend structure and an enduring finish.

Roodeberg Reserve

Roodeberg Reserve is an intense, richly layered blend of the finest barrels in the cellar. The 2019 vintage is a meticulously crafted Cabernet Sauvignon-driven blend supported by Shiraz, Malbec and just a dab of Petit Verdot and Durif (Petite Sirah). Soft, silky tannins round off intricate layers of red plum, blueberries, crushed herbs and tobacco leaf with hints of dark chocolate.

Roodeberg Classic Red Blend

The actual blend of the iconic original Roodeberg Classic Red has always been shrouded in mystery. It’s a tradition that continues to this day as there is always a small component of the final blend that remains a closely kept secret. The latest 2021 vintage is composed predominantly of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon with a splash of lesser-known French varieties such as Tannat and Durif (Petite Sirah), as well as Merlot. Vibrant and silky smooth, this is a superbly textured wine that erupts in your glass with aromatic layers of fresh berries, hints of spice and dark chocolate. Nuances of cedar oak and ripe plums supported by sleek tannins linger long after the last sip.

Roodeberg Classic Rosé

While more beguiling in character, there is nothing mysterious about this salmon pink enchantress. The 2022 vintage is a vibrant, multi-layered blend of classic Mourvedre, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, with a dash of Grenache, Pinotage, Carignan, and Cinsault to pique your interest. With our taste buds craving crisp, fruity wines at the peak of summer, Roodeberg Classic Rosé fits the bill with bursts of strawberry, blueberry and raspberry. This enticing bouquet sets the scene for a mouthful of enchantment and a twist of Turkish delight.

Now is as good a time as any to embark on your journey of discovery through Roodeberg’s intriguing blends to find your favourite to share with friends and create your own Roodeberg stories.
